A large percentage of the population is delusional. The GOP base voters have accepted for decades the idea the GOP politicians are somehow more apt to listen to them, and give them what they want. As my dad would say, what a load of hooey!

What is the answer? You got me. We keep electing people like Graham, McConnell, Gaetz and all the rest of the problems. And now, the GOP base (or some of them), and maybe even Trump, think the election should be overturned by force. Biden will have his hands full. We need to keep our eyes open and not let BS stand if we have the power to call it out.
