I gave up TV about 12 years ago thinking I was doing something noble. Of course most of the TV was crap anyway but I missed the whole Good TV Revolution. And these days a distraction is more valuable than ever.
One of the coolest things I learned from going to Bed Bath & Beyond, or maybe it was from the Internet, was that expandable curtain rods can be used inside cabinets to hang things on. Woohoo!
I retired from the teaching profession a little over two years ago. One of my best decisions was to let my students take over my office and take anything home they wanted. My only caveat was that they had to show me what they were taking, because there were a few things I didn’t want to give away. They sorted them for me! I have not regretted this decision for a second. And I was able to continue the thought into my house, giving away things I didn’t use anymore. There’s still more to go, but I’m well on my way. Somewhere I heard the term Swedish death sorting, if that’s what it is, and it works for me!
I don’t believe there’s anyone on Earth who isn’t a hot mess at least some part of the time… but your suggestion of looking at Little Things as a way to get out of it is great. Someone told me you could dig a swimming pool with a teaspoon, but I think your ideas are more practical for me!
