My sponsor always asks the question "why do you

you drink?" And the usual answers are given: tough childhood, sexual or other abuse, spouse is a drag, work sucks, etc. And for every one he said nope, and named many people with the same problem who are not alcoholics, for instance siblings who lived under the same conditions, and one but not the other is alcoholic.

After all my wrong answers he gave me the right one: "because we are alcoholics. it is a disease."
