My takeaways: cis allies can educate themselves. There are so many books, both personal and generic, that can answer the vast majority of questions. There is no reason to ask a question that an be answered this way.

Also, that things would be better if allies knew more trans people, but with the political situation as it is it is very understandable that many trans people go stealth if they can. I am so lucky to have trans friends.
