People are curious. Before I met a trans person I didn’t think about these questions too much. Then my friend came out to me, and trusted me enough to tell me. Everyone has their own level of vulnerability, and pushing it is a bad idea. The only time you can do it is if the person gives you permission basically by saying what do you want to know? And the amount of material that is available educationally is immense, and you can learn without being personally intrusive. I have learned so much from my friend, and what I have learned goes far beyond the trans question. We do not talk about it anymore, because there are so many other interesting things to talk about!
