This is an excellent article about life choices… I am retired, and wonder what I would have done at 21 if I had seen the two forks in the road… without really knowing there was another, I chose the one I was passionate about, even though the rewards in terms of finance and material goods would be small. I knew that then, and knew the path I chose was the only one for me.

Now, after 35 years in education, with all its highs and lows, I am finding the compulsion to be complacent very strong at times. I decided I would pick an advocacy with some risks as a way to quell this urge to do nothing; this choice was easy because of a good friend I had made. My health is not what it once was, but I can still get around, so I have a chance to make a difference.

What is my point? I guess that one life choice does not preclude another down the road. At that point you can look around, and there will likely be signs of what you should do. I know there were for me, clear as a bell.

As for the two political parties, I am 64, nearly 65. What I see happening is surreal. Is there a path out of this for our nation? I have to believe there is, and work towards it. Since I am retired, I can fit two causes into my schedule!

Thanks so much for the thought provoking article. I am going to buy at least one of your books!
