We can pray these braying transphobic voices will fade with time… and it is my belief they will. In the meantime, all of us who want this to happen should step up now whenever we see transphobia. Get involved! Local PFLAG chapters will welcome you, and there are lots of opportunities to be of help, if you only look for them.
